The reigning WSL champions will play Ajax in their first season friendly.

Chelsea pre-season

There isn’t long until the Women’s Super League returns, with the new season kicking off in September.

Chelsea are now getting their pre-season underway with just under a month until the season begins with a trip to the Netherlands

The Blues will undergo a six-day training camp before facing off against Ajax at the Sportcomplex de Toekomst.

Sonia Bompastor’s team face off against the Dutch side on Sunday, August 17th with tickets available for just €7.50.

After such a successful year Chelsea are sure to be short-priced favourites with betting websites to win the WSL.

What did Chelsea win last season?

Last season was Sonia Bompastor’s first year in charge of Chelsea and the Spaniard won almost everything in her debut campaign.

The WSL is almost coming as guarantee to Chelsea these days and last year’s title was their sixth in a row.

With that being said the Blues have never won the league by a margin as wide as they did last year.

Their 60 points at the top of the table also marked history for the league’s highest-ever points tally and third unbeaten campaign.

With the WSL expanding to 14 teams by 2026/27, there is a good chance that Chelsea could eclipse their record points set in 2024/25 very soon.

It wasn’t just the WSL that England’s champions reigned supreme in last year though as they also lifted the League Cup and FA Cup.

Can Chelsea win the Champions League this year?

While they have won almost every trophy in the club’s history, a Champions League continues to elude Chelsea.

Again last season the club got far in Europe but again it proved to be too stiff a task for the Blues.

Barcelona won both semi-final legs by a 4-1 scoreline, knocking them out of the competition 8-2 on aggregate.

Bompastor and Chelsea will be desperate to right previous wrongs in Europe this year but with the likes of Barcelona sure to stand in their way, the tournament will be far from easy.

Having won the WSL last year Chelsea don’t have to go through any qualifying rounds and will enter the competition at the group stage.
