Enzo Maresca takes his Chelsea side across London to face West Ham on Friday, tasked with unlocking the potential of his expensive attack.
After a frustrating 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on the opening day, the Blues will be aiming to turn a solid defensive start into their first victory of the season against a Hammers team low on confidence.
Enzo Maresca’s main selection dilemmas are in defence and attack. The key decision comes at centre-back, where youngster Josh Acheampong was handed a start last week. Tosin Adarabioyo is fit to return after recovering from a knock, while Wesley Fofana now fit again and available from the bench. Maresca must choose whether to stick with the youngster or bring in more senior options.
In attack, there is strong competition for places. Jamie Gittens, Estêvão, Liam Delap, and João Pedro are all vying for starting roles.
However, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku will not be considered, as they have been left out of the squad ahead of expected transfers before the September 1st deadline.
Chelsea predicted XI: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Tosin, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estêvão, Palmer, Neto; João Pedro.
The Premier League fixture takes place at the London Stadium on Friday, 22nd August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm BST.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League in the UK. Coverage begins at 7pm BST, and subscribers can also stream the action live via the Sky Go app.
