MATCH OF THE DAY RECAP

Philadephia Union got back on track tonight in front of home support at Subaru Park in a narrow 1-0 win over a defiant St. Louis City side.

A lone goal from Ian Glavinovich in the 8th minute was all The Union would need to dish out Olof Mellberg's first defeat as St. Louis boss, with the former Swedish international watching key midfielder Eduard Löwen receive his marching orders in the second half, guaranteeing a narrow loss on their travels.

Despite the absence of key figures in the Union side, including league-leading goalscorer Tai Baribo due to the current international break, Bradley Carnell's troops did well to bounce back after falling to Nashville SC last time out.

With that. St. Louis missed out on a chance to keep five clean sheets to start the season and set a new MLS record, but despite suffering their first loss of the 2025 campaign, early days under Mellberg can still be viewed as promising.

From the heart 💚🩵

Dean Smith sheds some light on the performance of Charlotte FC left-back Souleyman Doumbia, who only recently arrived on loan from Belgian side Standard Liège to make his first appearance for The Crown earlier this evening.

An immense effort from the Paris-born Ivorian International 💪

A record that was not meant to be broken 🚫
