Mexico City.- Despite trying until the end and playing aggressively, Guadalajara ended its participation in the Apertura 2025, losing 3-2 to Cruz Azul in the quarterfinal second leg.
The first half was largely dominated by Guadalajara, which, even on the road, played offensively and controlled possession of the ball. Thanks to their proactivity, the Rebaño Sagrado created many scoring opportunities, putting together good passing sequences and pressing well, staying very close to the Celeste goal at all times and scoring a couple of goals to go into the break with a 1-2 lead.
As expected, the second half was not easy for Chivas, as Cruz Azul added many attackers and began to pressure the Rojiblanca area. In the final stretch of the match, La Máquina scored a goal that tied the aggregate score, but Rebaño was awarded a penalty that it failed to convert, and in the dying moments of the match, the capital side scored the final 3-2.
After this result, Guadalajara's participation in the 2025 Apertura came to an end, and they will now focus on seeking revenge in the upcoming 2026 Clausura. The goals
