Yesterday evening Inter Milan experienced an early and major setback in their Serie A season.

Whereas everything had gone right for the Nerazzurri in their win against Torino on opening day, there were few positives from the team’s performance yesterday.

From errors and sloppy play at the back to a lack of physicality in midfield, Inter looked hapless in the first half after they’d gone ahead in the first half.

Then in the second half, the Nerazzurri chased the game. There was no lack of intensity, but little in the way of precision from Inter’s attack.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu commented after the match that “it started well.”

“We broke the deadlock,” he continued. “But then we lost our composure and focus.”

“The penalty got Udinese back on terms. Then we tried to react, but without consistency and focus.”

“We also lost some duels and second balls,” said Chivu. “They did well to find our week points.”

The Inter coach then said that “In the second half we showed better quality, focus, and made the right runs.”

“But then we weren’t able to equalize. And as time went on, we lost our heads.”

“We were a bit too frenetic in our buildup play,” said Chivu. “We could have done better.”

Now, the Nerazzurri coach feels that “we need to react quickly.”

“We’re still a work in progress,” Chivu admitted.

“We need to find the right motivation to bounce back from this.”
