Chris Wilder says there are due to be further discussions soon on the futures of Andre Brooks and Femi Seriki.
Both have been key players for Blades boss Wilder this season, with Seriki having made 27 Championship appearances for the Blades while Brooks has played 29 times in the league.
Asked about their futures, Wilder said: “It will be discussed. The owners are over in the next couple of days so we’ve got positive meetings with them I should imagine, regarding what we talked about.
“Top of the list is obviously looking after and protecting ourselves with two great prospects.
“They have got an option in there but we shouldn’t run it down. I’m sure there will be discussions on Wednesday to see where we are in terms of definitely extending those boys’ contracts.”
Wilder also stressed that he wants to keep Tyrese Campbell and Gus Hamer at the club this summer, with the duo expected to attract interest from elsewhere.
PSV Eindhoven are among those keen on midfielder Hamer, Hayters understands.
“Tyrese and Gus, they’re sort of a different situation in terms of where their careers are,” he said.
“But I want to keep my best players. I want to keep Gus. He’s been outstanding.
“We want to keep Gus, we want to keep Ty. They’re a big part of what we’re doing but their approach and their representatives’ approach has to be respected and where they see their future has to be respected as well.
“Obviously we’ll see how that evolves.”
Wilder’s side take on league leaders Coventry City on Wednesday, but will be without January signing Kalvin Phillips due to suspension after he was sent off against Sheffield Wednesday.
But United could be boosted by the return of Jairo Riedewald from injury.
“Yeah, he is. He’s trained,” Wilder said when asked about his fitness.
“We decided that the best situation for him over the last three or four days would be to train fully.
“He quite easily could have been a sub against Sheffield Wednesday but we thought let’s prepare him for the Coventry game.
“He’s ready to go.”
