FLW looks at the players who will be leaving Charlton Athletic at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Charlton Athletic had a miserable 2023-24 campaign as, despite their lofty ambitions, the Addicks finished in a miserable 16th place.

This season has started much more promisingly and Nathan Jones' side will be hopeful that this form can continue as they push for promotion.

This hope will only have been bolstered by a respectable transfer window, where they picked up some impressive additions in the likes of Greg Docherty, Dan Potts, and Luke Berry.

However, the number of new arrivals will require some players to leave next summer. With nine players' contracts expiring, Jones will likely be prepared to let some go on a free transfer.

With that in mind, we have detailed those whose contracts expire at the Valley next summer.

Note: All expiry details are provided by Transfermarkt

Dan Potts

Dan Potts is unique in the fact that he may yet leave Charlton before the summer of 2025, with the defender signing a short-term deal at the Valley, keeping him there until January.

Having been promoted from every EFL division, the defender will provide some much-needed experience to help the Addicks achieve their goals while he is a favourite of Jones from his Luton tenure.

Of course, it is very possible that we will see that deal extended to the summer, but if not then he will depart this January.

Chuks Aneke

Chuks Aneke has been rather plagued by injuries since returning to Charlton following his spell at Birmingham City in the 2021-22 season.

If he doesn't recreate his form from 2020-21, where he managed 15 goals in 38 games for the London club, then it could well be the end of his time playing for Charlton with his deal set to expire in June.

Allan Campbell

Allan Campbell was signed on a season-long loan from Luton Town in late August.

A player who just two seasons ago was playing regularly in the Championship will be desperate for game time, and he will hope that Charlton can provide it.

With his deal expiring at Luton in the summer, it is possible that Jones' side could return for him on a permanent basis next summer but, for now, his loan deal with the Addicks will expire next June.

Lloyd Jones

Another ex-Luton Town player, Lloyd Jones has spent the past two seasons at the Valley, where he has become a firm part of the defence.

A tall and robust defender, he is currently experiencing the best period of his career, featuring prominently for a top-tier League One side.

For that reason, he will likely be keen to extend his stay, but that won't be down to him with his contract expiring in the summer of 2025.

Tennai Watson

Having featured heavily in the last campaign, Tenna Watson has struggled somewhat for minutes so far in 2024-25, with Jones opting for Kayne Ramsay in the right wing-back position instead.

That could spell trouble for defender whose Charlton expires in June 2025.

Tayo Edun

Tayo Edun has struggled to prove himself since a blossoming loan spell at Lincoln City in 2020-21.

Four years later, a challenging stint at Blackburn Rovers has been followed by an even less impactful period at Charlton.

The club do have a one-year option but if he doesn't pick his performances up, then Jones will have little reluctance in releasing the left-back come June.

Thierry Small

An ex-Everton and Southampton player, Thierry Small had an impressive short spell at Charlton at the end of the 2023-24 season, leading to the Addicks triggering a one-year extension clause in his deal.

The wing-back has continued this form into the new season and will hope that he can have a prolonged career at the Valley.

Aged 20, his contract is set to run out in June 2025, but it would be no surprise to see the Charlton hierarchy push for a new and improved deal – having reportedly offered him one in April.

Zach Mitchell

Last season, Charlton's 19-year-old centre-back, Zach Mitchell, spent time with Colchester United, where he impressed, up until a hamstring injury curtailed his campaign.

Now back with his parent club, he will be hopeful that Nathan Jones will afford him a significant number of opportunities. If not, then it would be no surprise to see Mitchell leave the club following the expiry of his contract.

Miles Leaburn

Finally, we have the highly rated Miles Leaburn, who has been a Charlton player since departing Chelsea in 2019.

Standing at 6ft 6, he is an imposing forward who made a notable impact in the 2022-23 season, scoring 12 goals in 35 League One matches. Unfortunately, he missed most of the following campaign due to a serious hamstring injury, but is expected to return by mid-September 2024.

Even so, extending his contract will likely be a priority for the South London club.
