Manchester City are pleased to announce the signing of Eartha Cumings.

The 26-year-old joins the Club after committing to a three-year deal which keeps her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2028, subject to international clearance.

Having already built a wealth of experience in Scottish and English football, Cumings returns to the United Kingdom having experienced a new culture in Sweden for two years while adding to her impressive repertoire.

After joining the Damallsvenskan at the back end of the 2023 term where FC Rosengård finished seventh, Cumings went on to play every top-flight game in the 2024 season as the team conceded just nine goals and recorded 18 clean sheets en route to the Damallsvenskan crown, which resulted in the Scot receiving the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Now back in the England, Cumings is aiming to add to her haul of honours following her heroics in Sweden and her education at Spartans, Bristol City, Charlton, Liverpool and Everton.

Cumings said: “I think it's an exciting team and it’s always nice to come close to home.

“There are a lot of young players, but also a bit of a mix [with experience] and obviously, City has really high ambitions and aspirations, so it's an exciting time to be a part of this team.

“From the outside, it looks like a really great goalkeeper union and like it looks like they have great fun. So, I'm looking forward to being part of it.”

Manchester City Women’s Director of Football Therese Sjogran added: “Eartha is an impressive goalkeeper that will bring even more international experience to our squad.

“She gives her all on and off the pitch, and we’re looking forward to welcoming her to the team.”

SCOTTISH STOPPER

Having already built a wealth of experience in English football, Eartha Cumings returns to this country having experienced a new culture in Sweden for two years while adding to her impressive repertoire.

Having been recruited by current City Director of Football Therese Sjogran when she oversaw a similar role at Rosengard between 2015 and 2024, the goalkeeper made the move to Malmo 24 months ago.

After tasting the Damallsvenskan at the back end of the 2023 term where her former employers finished seventh, work immediately began to restore their place at the top of the division and Cumings was key to that rebuild.

It then proved to be a masterstroke with defensive solidity at the heart of Rosengard in 2024 as they impressively won the title having won 25 out of their 26 league assignments.

Cumings played every top-flight game that season as they conceded just nine goals and recorded 18 clean sheets en route to the Damallsvenskan crown which resulted in the Scot receiving the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Now back in England, she’s aiming to add to her haul of honours following her heroics in Sweden and her education at Spartans, Bristol City, Charlton, Liverpool and Everton.

And now reunited with Sjogran and former Rosengård colleague Rebecca Knaak, it could be another inspired acquisition by the former as we aim to compete on three fronts across the upcoming campaign.
