FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit has given his verdict on the state of the atmosphere at Bramall Lane at the moment
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Sheffield United are still in contention for a play-off place despite their poor start to the season under Ruben Selles.
Chris Wilder returned as manager after just five games, but he has turned things around and the Blades have their sights on returning to the top six.
The Yorkshire outfit missed out on promotion in the previous campaign when they lost 2-1 to Sunderland in the play-off final, and a difficult start to this term had the club at risk of relegation to League One.
But their recent form has brought them back into promotion contention, and the team will be hoping that positive form at Bramall Lane will be key to overcoming the gap to the top six.
Sheffield United have won four of their last five league games at home, scoring 13 goals in the process, and that has proved key to their rise up the table in recent weeks.

When asked how to rate the current atmosphere at Bramall Lane, FLW’s Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy claimed that it has been the topic of a lot of discussion among supporters so far this season.
However, he believes that things have improved along with the improvement in results in recent weeks, particularly due to the impressive goal scoring form under Wilder.
“Interesting question because this has been something that a lot of Blades have been critical of, even though the majority of us are sitting in the ground,” Jimmy told Football League World.
“The atmosphere has usually come into question, and I think a lot of that is recent success and then frustrations or nerves that we’re not quite performing to levels that we’ve grown to expect.
“Younger fans think like that as well.
“But also, as we’ve struggled this year and there’s no longer the expectation that there was at the start, we’re sort of playing with more of a carefree attitude.
“I do think the atmosphere has improved because of that.
“We play a lot more front foot football under Chris Wilder as well, so it’s been decent to watch as well, scoring three goals in a lot of games recently.
“The atmosphere’s improved and long may it continue.”
Sheffield United have moved up to 15th in the Championship table under Wilder, with the team now just six points adrift of the play-off places.
The Blades are seeking a return to the Premier League at the second attempt after being relegated in 2024.
But they will need a strong run of form in the final months of the campaign in order to overcome the gap to sixth place Derby County, who are six points behind Hull City in fifth.
Next up for the Yorkshire outfit is a home clash against bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday on 22 February in a 12pm kick-off.

Sheffield United potentially have the opportunity to officially condemn Sheffield Wednesday to relegation on Sunday.
Despite the obvious issues behind the scenes at Hillsborough, it’s still a moment that supporters will relish and that will make it a big test for the state of the atmosphere at Bramall Lane these days.
Henrik Pedersen’s side have won one game all season, so there will be plenty of optimism for Sheffield United that they can get a strong result, and keep their top six hopes alive.
