Al Masry SC issued fierce statement condemning the refereeing performance in their 3 - 2 defeat against Petrojet on Saturday in the Egyptian Premier League.

Controversial calls spark anger

The match at the New Suez Stadium saw referee Mohamed Abbas and VAR official Khaled El Ghandour come under heavy criticism from the Port Said club.

VAR awarded Petrojet penalty while disallowing both penalty and goal for Al Masry in the 1st half.

Official statement from Al Masry

In late night release, Al Masry described the awarded penalty for Petrojet as "comedic" accusing the refereeing team of clear bias.

The club stated that repeated promises of reform in Egyptian refereeing remain unfulfilled with favoritism benefiting certain clubs at the expense of others.

Club threatens drastic action

The statement hinted that chairman and the board are considering withdrawing from the competition or freezing club activities altogether if such "injustices" continue.
