Rangers manager Philippe Clement has confirmed well over half the potential first team is unavailable for selection v Dundee, revealing the extent of Rangers’ latest injury crisis.
Rangers’ season is as good as over already, but there’s still second place to cling onto, but losing half your team isn’t going to help there.
He confirmed:
“Butland, Souttar, Balogun, Tavernier, Kasanwirjo and Lawrence will all be out for the game tomorrow – Sterling is still a doubt.”
Basically the entire defence and a playmaker – Rangers are in a desperate pickle injury-wise, and can only call upon Ridvan, Jefte, Propper and King as the entire options for the backline.
It’s a pretty dismal state of affairs and only highlights how poor recruitment actually was to overlook defensive reinforcements.
Rangers face the Dee desperate for the three points because any more lost and second place looks seriously under threat from Dundee Utd who have caught some form. Thankfully Aberdeen’s form has totally crashed.
Clement added:
“Leon Balogun will be back in the short-term but he won’t be back for tomorrow. John Souttar and James Tavernier won’t be back for the weekend – but we can’t put exact dates on these things.”
Just more good news.
