Fenerbahce have upped the ante as they try to beat Tottenham Hotspur to experienced defender Andrew Robertson, who is set for a Liverpool exit this summer.

The experienced Scot will be leaving Anfield after one last game, against Brentford at home this Sunday, in a move which has raised some eyebrows given his leadership skills at the Reds.

Robertson has played close to 400 games for the Merseyside giants since his move from Hull City in 2017, being labelled ‘the real Braveheart’ by Jurgen Klopp the following year.

Last summer, when Milos Kerkez made a big-money move to the Reds from Bournemouth, it was suggested that the Scotland captain would not stick around as the second-choice left-back.

However, he decided to stay put after Kostas Tsimikas was loaned out to Roma and has been a useful option for Arne Slot.

North London side Tottenham Hotspur were keen to sign him in the winter transfer window and they made an enquiry for the experienced full-back.

Robertson has clocked more than 1,900 minutes for the Reds across all competitions this term in 35 games, contributing to five goals directly in the process.

Tottenham have not gone away in the race for Robertson and it has been widely claimed he will join them on a free transfer if they avoid relegation.

Fenerbahce though are rivalling Tottenham for Robertson and have now upped the ante with a contract offer, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu (via Asist Analiz).

It has been suggested that the Yellow Canaries have offered the Reds star a two-year deal with an option for another year, with a €3m yearly salary.

Fenerbahce see the 32-year-old as a ‘statement signing’ and have made their move for the departing Liverpool defender.

Spurs lost to Chelsea on Tuesday night and are still not out of relegation trouble going into their final match against Everton on Sunday.

Given the continued uncertainty, Fenerbahce look to be doing all they can to fight for Robertson’s signature.

Tottenham have been hit by injury issues at left-back and believe the Scot’s vast experience would bring a calming presence to the Spurs backline.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Federico Chiesa have been linked with potential moves to Turkey in the summer window, and it remains to be seen whether Robertson fancies a switch to Turkey next season.
