In the latest look at the groups competing at this summer’s Club World Cup in the USA, it is now time to cast our eyes over Group B.
Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain will be the clear favourites to triumph in Group B after a sterling campaign at home and abroad. Luis Enrique's side have been thrilling all year long and will surely be fighting it out with fellow European heavyweight, Atlético de Madrid, for top spot here.

The opening game of Group B comes from Pasadena's iconic Rose Bowl as PSG take on Atleti and it looks like being a direct shoot-out for top spot. These two actually met in the Champions League earlier this season with the Spanish side netting a 93rd minute winner for a 2-1 victory.
Désiré Doué (Paris Saint-Germain)
The 20-year-old French sensation has emerged as a breakout star for PSG since joining from Rennes in August 2024. Doué has delivered crucial performances in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, including a decisive penalty at Anfield against Liverpool, a stunning equaliser versus Aston Villa in the quarter-finals and a brace in the final. His creativity and composure under pressure make him a rising force in PSG’s attack.
Julián Álvarez (Atlético de Madrid)
Julián Álvarez may have only been at Atleti for a little under 12 months but the Argentina international has already established himself as their main attacking threat. The 25-year-old netted 17 goals in 35 LaLiga appearances this season including a genuinely world class free-kick against Real Betis in May.

Botafogo's 29-year-old goalkeeper may not be in the sexy forward positions but without him, the Brazilian giants simply wouldn't be the same. A colossal shot-stopper with expert reflexes, John was named in the South America Team of the Year in 2024.
Albert Rusnák (Seattle Sounders)
A total mainstay in the Sounders midfield for three years now, Albert Rusnák is the glue that hold Seattle together. With 10 goals in 32 games, the Slovakia international produced his best goalscoring season in 2024.

With the club's first European title in the bag, PSG will head into the Club World Cup as arguably the favourites to win it, and it will be interesting to see how Luis Enrique's young side handles the pressure.
Can they take the momentum of a glorious season into the summer tournament? Or will they have run out of gas in the tank? What's for sure is that nobody will be looking forward to facing them.
