AC Milan are in the race to sign Morten Frendrup from Genoa, and the asking price has been set ahead of the January transfer window.
Milan have found themselves in the position whereby Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders are the starting pair in the double pivot but there are no natural alternatives.
Yunus Musah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are both injured but have been used further forward, while Ismael Bennacer has not yet recovered, leading the Frenchman and Dutchman to work overtime.
According to Calciomercato.com, Frendrup is on Milan’s wish list an has a future that is ‘yet to be written’. The Genoa star is proving himself to be a very capable defensive midfielder, with the intensity of a Premier League player.
Speaking of which, Brentford seemed to be the certain destination for the Denmark international given their head coach being Thomas Frank and many other Danes being there, but in reality the race remains decidedly open.

Milan have been following Frendrup’s matches regularly since April and they have overseen constant growth. The directors will discuss the 23-year-old with Genoa very soon, aware that the Grifone want €18m to sell next month.
However, Fiorentina and Atalanta have asked for information about Frendrup in recent days. Gian Piero Gasperini is a great admirer of him, and they represent the main competition for the Rossoneri at present.
