Several areas within the AC Milan squad could undergo big changes this summer, and that also applies to the centre-back department.
According to Daniele Longo’s latest for Calciomercato.com, Milan are ‘preparing for what will be a real revolution’ before the start of next season. It is perhaps only logical, given that this could be the worst season since 2014-15, at least by league finish.
The revolution especially applies to the defence, with Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw’s departures ‘now certain’. For the former, concrete expressions of interest have arrived from English clubs. For the latter, both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are believed to be keen.
While waiting to pick the new sporting director, Milan are carrying on with planning through technical director Geoffrey Moncada. The Frenchman has reactivated contacts for one of his real obsessions: Cristhian Mosquera of Valencia.
Mosquera is only 20 years of age but he always plays and does so with the personality of a leader. Milan want to try to beat a lot of competition, especially from English clubs, and are evaluating an offer to Valencia.
There is another important factor in favour of the Rossoneri: the fact that the negotiations for the renewal of Mosquera’s contract – expiring in 2026 – are still at a standstill.
