Cole Palmer will wear the number 10 shirt at Chelsea next season, debuting the number at this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Palmer has worn the number 20 since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, where he has since cemented a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top talents.
The 22-year-old will change to the number 10 shirt, starting from this summer, previously worn by Mykhailo Mudryk. The latter is currently serving a provisional suspension after an adverse finding was found in a drugs test. His future is unclear, though the enquiry is expected to take some time.
Palmer has scored 40 goals in 91 games since arriving at Stamford Bridge and was named PFA Young Player of the Year and PFA Fans’ Player of the Season in his debut campaign.
The England international could wear the 10 shirt for the first time when Chelsea face MLS outfit Los Angeles FC in their Club World Cup opener on June 16th. Chelsea also take on Brazil’s Flamengo and Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the group stage.
Previous wearers of the number 10 shirt at Chelsea include Joe Cole, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Willian.
