Milan coach Sergio Conceiçao admits he doesn’t know for how long he’ll remain in charge of the Rossoneri, while players in the locker room were ‘sad and frustrated’ after a 2-1 loss against Bologna.

Milan’s defeat at the Stadio Dall’Ara against Bologna kept the Rossoneri outside a European placement and eight points below the top four.

Conceiçao spoke at a press conference after a post-match interview with DAZN.

“I saw a locker room at the end that was sad and frustrated with this result. They really wanted to win. I had I felt a positive energy,” the Portuguese coach told reporters via Milannews.

“I give my all. Every day, people talk about me and whether I will stay or not. If the club decides to let me go, I’ll pack my bags and leave. I am not respected; I am heavily criticized. I see interviews with other coaches on matchday, and I would never do such things.

“I have won 13 titles, I have always performed well against Italian teams, except against Inter. It’s not like I arrived here out of nowhere. My staff and I need some respect. I am here today, but I don’t know for how long. Maybe until tomorrow, or one, one and a half years. Milan will continue, but I need respect.

“When I come home from Milanello, my family calls me to ask what’s going on. We can talk about football, but I don’t like it when people speak with malice about other things.”

The ex-Porto coach was asked whether he felt frustrated as well.

“Very much. I am angry about the situation. But all coaches feel the same emotion when they work hard and don’t win. Day and night,” he replied.

“Tomorrow, we prepare for Lazio, that’s the life of a coach. This cloud has formed over Milan, and the only way out is through results. I don’t know any other way. It’s up to us to be stronger than the circumstances. The fans don’t care if I’m frustrated or if I work 10 hours a day; they care about winning. As long as I have the strength to continue, I will. If the club thinks I can’t do it anymore, that’s fine with me.”

During Conceiçao’s tenure, Milan have faced an early UEFA Champions League exit in the knockout playoff. The Portuguese tactician has only won eight games from 16 since replacing his compatriot, Paulo Fonseca, in December 2024.

Conceiçao’s record in charge of Milan includes three draws and five defeats across all competitions.

He is contracted until 2026, but Milan have a clause to terminate the agreement at the end of the season.
