Calvin Ramsay's future at Liverpool

Calvin Ramsay started for Liverpool last week as they hosted Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. The right-back was decent, too, and arguably the Reds' most impressive player on the night.

He found himself with the opportunity after Jeremie Frimpong's injury left Conor Bradley as the sole right-back in the first-team squad. Slot didn't want to risk playing him ahead of the following run of games and that means Ramsay was an easy addition at the back.

Slot was impressed, too.

"I think Calvin had a very, very decent performance - calm on the ball," he said after the match. "I don't know if I said it over here but [in] the first half-hour, I think we had better chances than them, actually, and he was part of that.

"He played with composure. A decent-to-good game for him."

But it doesn't sound as though Ramsay will be sticking around. He's currently more of an under-21s player, featuring regularly for them.

That, however, is not the level the 22-year-old wants to be at. Under 21s boss Rob Page told This Is Anfield that there's a desire to see him get that bigger move.

“I think it’s been a conscious effort among a lot of people, the medical team, sports science, coaches, members of staff, to get him into a position now where in January we can seriously be looking about getting a club to go out on loan or seeing what the next step is for Rambo," said Page.

And that sounds about right. Ramsay does need to move on, either with a solid loan that boosts his reputation or with a permanent sale to a team looking to develop him more.

Liverpool will hope the right deal comes along for the 22-year-old, though we don't expect them to be too fussy here.
