QPR have confirmed a number of key injuries to the first team squad following the victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Julien Stéphan’s side claimed a 3-0 victory over the Owls last Sunday, moving them into the top half of the Championship table.

However, it has come at the cost of key players ahead of their upcoming FA Cup clash against West Ham.

The London outfit ended a three game run without a win through goals from Rumarn Burrell and a brace from Rayan Kolli.

Stéphan will be hoping that these injuries won’t be too detrimental to the squad in the coming weeks, as they look to fight for a top six finish in the league this season.

QPR have confirmed on their official website that Kwame Poku has suffered a hamstring injury and that he could be out of action for at least a month.

Jonathan Varane is also expected to miss the next couple of weeks following a minor knee sprain that he suffered in the 3-0 win at Loftus Road last weekend.

The defender could make a return later this month, ruling him out of the FA Cup clash away to West Ham this weekend.

The pair are also likely to miss upcoming games against Stoke City, Oxford United and potentially Wrexham, with no definitive timeframe given for their comeback.

Liam Morrison was named in the starting lineup to face Sheffield Wednesday, but was replaced by Steve Cook before kick-off after he endured a hip injury in the pre-game warmup, but QPR are hopeful he will be back in training later this week.

Goal scorer Burrell also added his name to the injury list at Loftus Road, with the club confirming a contact injury is set to keep him out of action until March, with further assessment still to come.

QPR are hoping that Ilias Chair and Jake Clarke-Salter will make their return to training later this month as they continue to rehab their injury issues.

The Hoops will face West Ham on 11 January in a 2.30pm kick-off.

QPR injury crisis will challenge Julien Stéphan

QPR are missing a number of key players for the next few weeks, and this blow to Burrell until March is a massive setback.

The 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday was bittersweet, as it was an impressive display from the side but players just kept dropping like flies.

It will be very challenging for Stéphan in the coming weeks to deal with all of these issues, and perhaps the January window could help ease their concerns.

If QPR can dip into the market to find some short-term solutions, then that might be necessary given how many important players are out.
