Confirmed: Real Madrid donate €1 million to support those affected by Venezuela earthquakes | OneFootball

Real Madrid have issued an official statement confirming that the club’s Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign in conjunction with the Red Cross to support those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela.

As part of the campaign, Los Blancos have donated a sum of €1 million in order to help the earthquake victims and families.

“The Real Madrid Foundation is launching a fundraising campaign, in collaboration with the Red Cross, to support those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela,” the statement read.

“Real Madrid has decided to support this campaign with a donation of one million euros to help the victims and their families.”

The statement also confirms that club president Florentino Perez will also be making a donation of the same amount to the fundraising campaign.

“Likewise, the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, will also contribute with a donation of one million euros.”

Concluding the statement, Real Madrid expressed their support and solidarity with the citizens of Venezuela.

“From Real Madrid we want to show all our support, affection and solidarity with the Venezuelan people in these difficult times.”

Venezuela was struck by devastating twin-earthquakes on 24 June, with the death toll risen to at least 1,450 people, with some recent reports indicating it has crossed 1,500 even as rescue operations continue.

In addition to the fatalities, more than 3,000 people are said to have been injured, while local reports suggest that at least 50,000 people are missing.
