Conor Gallagher returns to Premier League with Tottenham move

Conor Gallagher has returned to the Premier League, joining Tottenham on Wednesday after a season and a half at Atlético Madrid. According to Sky Sports, the transfer fee is about 40 million euros.

He has signed a long-term contract, with the length not disclosed. The 25-year-old has 22 England caps and one goal.

A Chelsea academy graduate, he had a series of loans before establishing himself with the Blues, then moving to Madrid. There he alternated between the starting XI and a role from the bench.

Since the start of the 2025-26 campaign he has mostly been used as a substitute, with only four La Liga starts.

The move could increase his visibility with England manager Thomas Tuchel before the 2026 World Cup. In 2025 he appeared in only one of the 10 matches for the Three Lions.
