Newcastle United have reportedly been in contact over a potential summer transfer window swoop for Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos.
The Portugal international has mostly shone at PSG, albeit not always at the exceptionally high standards set by the club’s other forwards.
There’s a lot of competition in Luis Enrique’s squad, so it’s perhaps not too surprising to see Ramos now being linked with an exit.
Newcastle are one of the clubs in the mix and initial contacts have already taken place, according to TEAMtalk.
The Magpies could do well to bring in someone like Ramos for next season after some slightly underwhelming performances from last summer’s signings Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade.
Ramos has 44 goals in 124 appearances since joining PSG, following on from 41 in 106 games for previous club Benfica.
If the 24-year-old can replicate that kind of record in the Premier League then he could surely be a decent signing for Newcastle.
At the same time, however, he probably doesn’t look like quite enough to give NUFC the replacement for Alexander Isak that they’ve been looking for…

Overall, Ramos is a high medium due to Newcastle’s need for a striker, and the fact that he probably wouldn’t cost a fortune, and is at a decent phase of his career age-wise.
