A journalist has suggested that the AC Milan leadership are already thinking about who might have to come in and replace Paulo Fonseca, and that contacts with Max Allegri are underway.

The Milan players were jeered quite heavily on Tuesday night as they went to thank the Curva Sud for their support after the 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League, and that was a sign of the current mood surrounding the team.

There were only 60,000 fans present anyway due to a combination of ticket prices and a poor start to the season, but those who stayed until the very end of the loss made their feelings known towards the team.

According to Maurizio Pistocchi, the defeat against Liverpool – one that came after many errors in the defensive phase again – the future of Fonseca hangs on the derby against Inter on Sunday night at San Siro.

Should another defeat arrive, the fate of the coach would be sealed and he would be sacked after what will have been just six games in charge and just one win, the 4-0 against Venezia five days ago.

The Rossoneri management ‘have been in contact with Max Allegri for some time’, who is considered the right man to fix the defensive phase. The coach has ‘already given his approval to a sensational return to the Milan bench’.
