Corberán reflects on Umar Sadiq’s quirks after San Mamés warm-up video | OneFootball

Carlos Corberán has addressed questions about Umar Sadiq’s distinctive behaviour, stressing that differing personalities must be understood and managed within a squad.

In a news conference largely focused on Valencia’s season objectives, he was asked about a Movistar video that showed Sadiq performing a light, unorthodox warm-up on the touchline at San Mamés.

Corberán said no two footballers are the same, noting that players come from different families, cultures and countries, and the aim is to draw out the best of each personality while improving areas that are not their strongest.

Speaking specifically about the forward, he called Sadiq’s sense of humour an integral part of who he is and indicated he has no intention of changing it. He described the Nigerian as an exceptional lad, a trait that becomes clear once you get to know him.

Corberán added that Sadiq is at Valencia for what he brings to the team and because of how well he performed last season after arriving in the winter window. He also highlighted the positive atmosphere the striker helps to create in the dressing room.
