Carlos Corberán has transformed Valencia’s season through clear calls on the pitch, in the dressing room and in recruitment. According to Superdeporte, targeted winter arrivals with LaLiga know-how delivered immediate impact. Valencia now sit seven points above the drop, able to look up with calm ambition.

The hinge came at the Coliseum on matchday 20, captain José Luis Gayà hitting a 0-1 winner. Since then Valencia have beaten Getafe, Espanyol, Levante, Osasuna and Alavés, losing only to Betis, Real Madrid and Villarreal.

The numbers back it up. Goals per game have climbed from 0.95 to 1.5, while concessions have fallen from 1.63 to 1.25, with clean sheets against Getafe, Levante and Osasuna, matching the first half’s tally against Getafe, Athletic and Levante.

Corberán has form for second-half surges, repeating last season’s turnaround when he arrived with the side on 12 points in January. Valencia are LaLiga’s fourth-best in this second round on 15 points from eight, behind Barcelona and Real Madrid on 18 and Atlético de Madrid on 16, level with Osasuna. That haul is close to the 17 they managed across all 19 games of the first half.

A new spine of Unai Núñez, Guido Rodríguez and Umar Sadiq has addressed summer shortcomings and lifted standards, while Javi Guerra, Ugrinic and Gayà have kicked on and Ramazani, Cömert and Dimitrievski are now undroppable. Corberán broadened options too, trusting André Almeida and Dani Raba against Alavés, then using Danjuma, Almeida and Hugo Duro to turn the comeback. The side look more ordered and mentally stronger, sealing a remontada 109 matches and three and a half years after the last, Valencia vs Valladolid on 27 April 2023, again with a Javi Guerra goal.
