Corinthians academy goalkeeper returns after two-month absence

Corinthians faced Capivariano on the evening of Thursday (5th) at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the sixth round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista Championship, and won 3-0. The goals for the Corinthians team were scored by midfielder Dieguinho, as well as forwards Gui Negão and Kayke. With the three points, the Alvinegro jumps to fourth place in the overall standings with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss – nine goals scored and five conceded).

Besides the victory, the match marked the return of goalkeeper Felipe Longo, 20 years old, to the field wearing the Corinthians jersey. His last match for the club was just over two months ago, on November 23, 2025, in a 3-0 defeat against Cruzeiro at Mineirão, during the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Since then, Corinthians has played 17 times (three in the Brasileirão, four in the Copa do Brasil, five in the Paulistão, and one in the Supercopa do Brasil). According to Sofascore, a sports statistics app, the number 40 accumulated the following numbers during the 90 minutes he was on the field: one save, two punches, two defensive contributions, 1/1 aerial duels won, three ball recoveries, and 24 actions with the ball. His rating on the app was 6.8.

Champion of the 2024 Copa São Paulo as a starter for Corinthians, Felipe Longo was permanently promoted to the Alvinegro's professional squad at the beginning of 2025. The 20-year-old goalkeeper became the immediate backup to Hugo Souza after Matheus Donelli lost space, especially after the arrival of coach Dorival Júnior in April 2025.

The young player has six matches for the main team of Corinthians. He was called upon when Hugo Souza was generally unavailable due to serving the Brazilian National Team or being injured, as happened at times towards the end of last season. Felipe Longo was part of the squad that won the state championship and the Copa do Brasil in 2025, as well as the Supercopa do Brasil title in 2026.

The goalkeeper completed all his youth categories at Corinthians, where he played for the Alvinegro futsal team. Considering Corinthians' Under-17 and Under-20 teams, he played 75 matches, with 45 wins, 14 draws, and 16 losses. In the upcoming classic on Sunday (8th), the Son of Terrão is expected to return to the bench. This is because Hugo Souza will be the starter in the Derby against Palmeiras at 8:30 PM (Brasília time) in Itaquera, for the seventh round of the Paulistão.
