Corinthians stepped up preparations on Tuesday for their next Brazilian league fixture, with André Carrillo back in partial training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava.

The club said in a statement that the Peruvian completed only part of the session after a left adductor issue. He had been omitted from the squad for Sunday’s derby defeat to Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena in the seventh round of the Paulistão.

The day began with gym activation following a Monday recovery day. After a warm-up, the group worked on possession.

Players who featured for more than 45 minutes in the derby moved indoors for further recovery. The rest stayed on the pitch for attack against defence finishing, then a small-sided game.

Despite Carrillo’s return, there was a significant setback that could affect the entire season. José Martínez, back after delays with the reissue of his passport, has an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee. The club did not release further details.

Also unavailable are left-back Hugo Farias, who has a right knee meniscus injury and will undergo arthroscopy, and forward Kaio César, who has a right hamstring problem.

Dorival Júnior’s squad will complete preparations on Wednesday morning. Corinthians host Red Bull Bragantino at 20:00 on Thursday at Neo Química Arena in the third round of the national competition, after a defeat to Bahia in their opener.
