Corinthians are taking a careful approach to Jesse Lingard’s debut as he awaits the completion of paperwork and a work visa to be registered on the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário, BID. According to Globo.com, the club will not rush his first appearance.

After Sunday’s draw with Santos at Vila Belmiro in the Brasileirão, coach Dorival Júnior suggested he needs about 10 more days of preparation before staff make an assessment.

Lingard is already working with the ball, but he has not yet been cleared for unrestricted training at CT Joaquim Grava.

The new No 77 was officially presented last week and expressed delight at signing for the São Paulo club. He said he is ready to take the field for his new team.

This month, Corinthians visit Chapecoense on Thursday, then face Flamengo at Neo Química Arena on 22 March.
