According to Meu Timao, eight Corinthians councillors have filed a petition to remove lifetime councillor Carla Dualib from the club’s Deliberative Council, citing her ongoing lawsuit against the institution.
The group sent a letter to Ethics Council president Leonardo Pantaleão arguing that Dualib is pursuing financial claims that breach the club’s statute. They add that a lifetime councillor suing Corinthians creates a conflict of interest and violates sporting ethics, citing article 43, item d.
The dispute stems from a partnership between Corinthians and SMA, Carla Dualib’s agency, from 2003 to 2006. The club withheld commissions, alleging the agreement amounted to nepotism and harmed the institution. Her grandfather was club president when the deal was signed.
The document, signed by councillors Marcelo Mandel, Antonio Roque Citadini, Fernando Perino, Yun Ki Lee, Peterson Ruan Ramos and Romero Cardoso de Avila, plus members Alexandre Germano and Cyrillo Neto, says the claim has risen from R$ 14 million to R$ 30 million. The group asks for an ethics and disciplinary procedure, that Dualib be notified to present her defence, and, at the end, loss of her mandate and lifetime seat.
The court case has been running since 2009 and has not moved since August last year. Then, Corinthians opposed a virtual judgment session, saying it wanted to deliver oral arguments. In January, the tribunal replaced the case’s rapporteur and no further updates have followed.
