Corinthians lost 1-0 to Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena on Sunday night, leaving them without a derby win in the Paulistão first phase.
Meu Timao reports on the club’s derby run in the first phase.
The run began in the third round at home to São Paulo, a 1-1 draw in which Breno Bidon scored.
Next, at Vila Belmiro against Santos, it finished 1-1. Corinthians led through Yuri Alberto but conceded in the final move to Gabriel Barbosa.
Backed by their fans, Corinthians sought a first derby win against arch-rivals Palmeiras, but Memphis Depay missed a penalty and Flaco López netted the only goal.
Two draws and one defeat delivered a 22.2% return in derbies. Last season, when they won the Paulistão, the return was 33.33%, with defeat to São Paulo, a draw with Palmeiras and a win over Santos.
Before refocusing on the Paulistão, Corinthians turn to the Campeonato Brasileiro. They host Red Bull Bragantino at Neo Química Arena on Thursday 12 February, kick-off 20:00.
