Corinthians gear up for Derby in Paulista Women's Championship

Throughout this Friday (7), the Corinthians women's team held another training session in preparation for their next match in the Paulista Women's Championship. Next Monday (10), Alvinegro will face Palmeiras at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), at Arena Barueri, for the 12th round of the first phase of the state tournament.

At CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, the Brabas squad started the day with physical work in the gym. Afterwards, they moved to the pitch. There, coach Lucas Piccinato led a collective activity lasting about 45 minutes. Aspects worked on throughout the week were analyzed.

It is worth noting that Corinthians currently lead the first phase of the Paulista Women's Championship with 30 points (10 wins and one loss – 29 goals scored and six conceded). Palmeiras, in turn, are in second place with 25 points. If they secure all three points, the Brabas will guarantee home advantage in the return legs of the semifinals and the final of the competition.

Last season, Alvinegro finished the first phase in second place with 24 points – the same as Palmeiras, but with an inferior goal difference (26 to 24). The final of the Paulista in this category was precisely the Derby, where the club from Parque São Jorge played the second leg away and ended up as runners-up after losing in a penalty shootout.

For the match, goalkeeper Nicole – recovering from hand surgery – is out and is only expected to return next season, aiming for the Club World Cup – Copa das Campeãs, in London, England. Forwards Jaqueline (foot trauma) and Andressa Alves (muscle injury) may also remain sidelined.
