Corinthians held by Santos in Paulistão Sub-20 last 16 first leg

On the afternoon of this Friday, September 19, Corinthians faced Santos at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a match valid for the first leg of the Paulista Under-20 Championship round of 16 and ended in a goalless draw.

The first half of the Alvinegro classic saw a superiority of the team from Baixada Santista and the main highlight was the goalkeeper Matheus Corrêa, who was forced to make important interventions. At the end of the first half, Corinthians' defender, Ruan Victor, posed a threat in a header.

In the second half, Corinthians saw Santos reduced to one player less in the middle of the second half, but failed to take advantage of the numerical advantage on the field. In stoppage time, the forward Luiz Fernando made a great individual play near the entrance of the area but, in the shot, he shot over.

To start the match, coach William Batista lined up the following team: Matheus Corrêa; Gabriel Caipira (Guilherme Pellegrin), Fernando Vera, Ruan Victor and Robert Lopes; Thomas Lisboa (Caraguá), Luiz Eduardo (Nicola Araújo) and Guilherme Pires (Tiaguinho); Luiz Fernando, Léo Agostinho and Luiz Fábio (Kauã Henrique).

The bench had the following options: Cadu, Lorenzo, Guilherme Pellegrin, Caraguá, Molina, Victor Dourado, Nicolas Araújo, Tiaguinho and Kauã Henrique. Both teams will face each other again next Friday, September 26, at 3 pm (Brasília time), for the second leg of the round of 16 of the Paulistão Sub-20.
