Corinthians held in goalless draw as Libertadores groups set and council clash deepens

Corinthians endured a mixed Thursday, were held by Chapecoense in the Brasileirão before discovering their Libertadores group. According to Meu Timao, club politics also remained in focus after a contentious vote earlier this month.

The men's side drew 0-0 away to Chapecoense at Arena Condá in the seventh round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

In the evening, Conmebol staged the 2026 Copa Libertadores group draw in Luque, Paraguay. Corinthians were placed in Group E with Peñarol of Uruguay, Independente Santa Fe of Colombia and Platense of Argentina.

Fallout from the 9 March vote on draft reforms to the club's Statute continues at Parque São Jorge. On Wednesday, president Osmar Stabile convened an extraordinary meeting of the Deliberative Council.

Its agenda is the provisional removal of Romeu Tuma Júnior from the council presidency.
