Filipe Toledo, the two-time WSL world champion and an avowed Corinthians fan, was honoured by Corinthians’ Extreme Sports department at Neo Química Arena on Thursday before a 3-0 win over Remo in the Campeonato Brasileiro. He watched the game with his family.

According to Meu Timao, before kick-off Toledo walked onto the pitch with his relatives and completed a lap of honour. He was presented with a personalised Corinthians shirt bearing his name and the number 77, while his children received Gaviões da Fiel shirts.

The 77 carries specific meaning for the club. Toledo lifted his second World Surf League crown wearing 77 as a nod to the 1977 Paulista title. That year Corinthians ended nearly 23 years without a state trophy by beating Ponte Preta at Morumbi, Basílio scoring the decisive goal.

At the time, Toledo said he chose 77 to represent Brazil at the world surfing event because 1977 was the year Basílio ended the drought. He thanked supporters and signed off with a rallying cry for Corinthians.

It was not his first tribute at the ground. In 2024 he also visited the stadium, was welcomed by Corinthians’ Extreme Sports department and received another personalised 77 shirt.
