Corinthians marked the second anniversary of Hugo Souza’s official announcement on Thursday, using social media to celebrate their number one’s rise and trophies since arriving at Parque São Jorge. The club said in a post that he has been central to recent triumphs.

The message praised his immediate impact and cited the Campeonato Paulista 2025, Copa do Brasil 2025 and Supercopa do Brasil 2026.

Hugo reshared the tribute on Instagram Stories, thanking the club for the recognition, expressing pride in defending Corinthians and a wish to keep building his story.

Officially announced on 2 July 2024, he debuted on 16 July in a win over Criciúma in the Campeonato Brasileiro. He swiftly earned the fans’ trust and became first choice.

Corinthians then triggered their purchase option with Flamengo, supported by main sponsor Esportes da Sorte, paying 800,000 euros, about R$ 4.8 million at the time, for his economic rights.

Since then he has played 123 matches, with 58 wins, 35 draws and 30 defeats, and was decisive across those title runs. He has saved 14 penalties, ranking third outright for penalty saves in the club’s history.

His form even prompted talk of a Brazil call-up for the World Cup, but he was not included in Carlo Ancelotti’s final squad. He is taking part in interseason work under Fernando Diniz, with a friendly against FC Cascavel on 12 July at 16:00 at Estádio Olímpico Regional in Cascavel, Paraná.
