According to Meu Timao, Corinthians missed the chance to post successive victories over Flamengo, a feat they have not managed since 2015.
In 2015, Corinthians won both Brasileirão meetings, 3-0 at the Maracanã with goals from Elias, Uendel and Jadson, then 1-0 at the Neo Química Arena through Vagner Love. They extended that run with a 4-0 home win in Itaquera in the 2016 league.
Since then, Corinthians have won only five of 31 meetings, losing 17 and drawing nine. Each match following a Corinthians win ended in defeat, except for this weekend’s draw.
The clubs last met in the Supercopa do Brasil final on 1 February, when Dorival Júnior’s side beat Flamengo 2-0, Gabriel Paulista and Yuri Alberto scoring.
Sunday’s result leaves Corinthians seven games without a win. Since beating Athletico Paranaense 1-0 on 19 February, they have lost twice and drawn five.
They closed the eighth round in 11th place on 10 points, and have until 1 April to prepare for a Brasileirão trip to Fluminense at the Maracanã.
