According to Globo.com, Corinthians have opened talks with Atlético-MG to sign forward Júnior Santos, 31, on a one-year loan.
The proposed deal would involve no loan fee, with Corinthians covering his wages, and a pre-agreed purchase figure for a permanent move.
Atlético-MG have the player under contract until the end of 2028 and are weighing up a loan. The possibility of joining Corinthians appeals to Júnior Santos, who is seeking more opportunities.
Injuries limited him last season, when he made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. His last match came in September. He underwent surgery after a traumatic pubis injury with a ruptured right adductor tendon.
He starred for Botafogo in 2024, winning the Libertadores and finishing as the competition’s top scorer. That form prompted Atlético-MG to pay eight million dollars, around R$ 48 million at the time, to sign him. In mid 2025, Botafogo sought him on loan again, but Atlético-MG turned it down.
