Corinthians out, Internacional advance in Copinha Feminina

On Saturday night (13), Corinthians returned to the field for the São Paulo Women's Cup. Playing at CERET, the Sub-20 Brabinhas faced Internacional in the quarterfinals of the youth competition, but in a performance below what they showed in the first phase, they were unable to impose themselves, suffering a tough 4-1 defeat. The only goal for Corinthians was scored by Rafa Rocha.

With this result, Corinthians is eliminated from the Copinha, thus ending the 2025 season. This was the team's third participation in the tournament, still without any titles: in 2023, the Alvinegro did not get past the first phase, finishing third in Group C. Last year, the team was stopped in the quarterfinals, falling to Santos.

Unable to count on Gaby Tomé, suspended, and Gabi Pires, injured, and also suffering the last-minute absence of Ana Morganti, who remained on the bench, coach Bia Vaz lined up the Alvinegro with a team formed by Sophia Trindade; Rafa Rocha, Dany Pereira, Brunna and Ester; Julia Faria, Helô Camargo and Carol Melo; Dulce Maria, Manu Olivan and Rayane. Among the substitutes were Ana Morganti; Kaillany, Emelym, Rafa Rodrigues, Dafhiny, Raisa, Gabi Jordi, Manu Teixeira and Mel.

The first half started off lively. Internacional created the first chance with Alice, saved by Sophia, and Corinthians responded with Helô Camargo, stopped by goalkeeper Camily. In the eighth minute, the Coloradas opened the scoring: after a cross into the box, Alice deflected and Joana finished. At 20 minutes, a mistake in Corinthians' build-up was capitalized on by Joana, who intercepted a pass from Sophia, dribbled the goalkeeper, and scored the second goal.

With the disadvantage, Corinthians took possession of the ball and began to surround the opponent's attack. The Alvinegro's efforts, however, mostly resulted in mid-range shots, which did not pose much danger. Internacional sat back, exploited the spaces, and managed to maintain their 2-0 lead until halftime.

In the second half, Corinthians continued to dominate possession but still struggled to create scoring chances. The plays often ended in shots from outside the box, with goalkeeper Camily making a good save from a Rayane free kick. Internacional, taking advantage of the open field, created danger on the counterattack, with Joana once again being stopped by Sophia.

Then, at the 30-minute mark, the Gaúchas extended their lead: Yngrid Piauí was played through, ran from midfield to the box, and scored the third. Shortly after, the same forward capitalized on another defensive error to score the fourth. Corinthians only managed to pull one back in the final minutes, with a shot from Rafa Rocha that benefited from a mistake by goalkeeper Camily. The goal, however, was not enough to put the Brabinhas back in contention.
