Corinthians pay second 2026 Neo Química Arena instalment of around R$ 28 million | OneFootball

Corinthians have paid around R$ 28 million to settle the second 2026 instalment on the Neo Química Arena refinancing with Caixa Econômica Federal, keeping the deal on schedule, according to Meu Timao. With March's similar payment, outlay this year is roughly R$ 56 million of about R$ 115 million due.

Under the 2022 agreement, quarterly payments vary between R$ 20 million and R$ 30 million, tied to Selic and the updated balance. The next instalment is due on 25 September, the last of 2026 on 25 December.

If a payment is missed, Caixa may draw on a reserve account that must hold the equivalent of four quarterly instalments, roughly R$ 80 million to R$ 120 million. The reserve is currently backed by club guarantees.

If that reserve is short, the bank can block revenues, such as prize money, to top it up. That led to 50% of the Copa do Brasil prize being withheld in December 2025. The refinancing runs to a final instalment in December 2041.

Payments under the new deal effectively began in 2023. Across 2023 and 2024, the club paid only interest from five years of non-payment on the original 2013 loan, settling eight quarterly bills.

Amortisation started in 2025, when about R$ 93 million was paid. The 2025 financial report in April put the remaining balance at around R$ 642 million.

Corinthians and Caixa have discussed naming-rights changes since mid-2025, after a valuation concluded in March. The Neo Química contract from September 2020 totals R$ 300 million in 20 annual tranches of R$ 15 million, now about R$ 21 million after IGP-M indexation. Using this income to help amortise the debt is one option under discussion.

June brought upgrades at the ground, including a new pitch, facade cleaning and drinking fountains in the North and South stands, plus possible LED panel swaps. Seats are being removed in the South sector which, subject to safety approvals, could lift capacity from 7,406 to 9,083. The side return to Itaquera next Thursday to host Remo at 19:30 in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
