Corinthians beat Capivariano 3-0 at Neo Química Arena to move to consecutive Campeonato Paulista wins for the first time in almost a year.
They had already won in round five, a 1-0 victory over Velo Clube in Rio Claro on 25 January, secured by Yuri Alberto. Meu Timao notes the first phase uses only eight rounds this season.
The last time this happened in the state competition was March 2025. They then beat Mirassol 2-0 in the quarter-final, Santos 2-1 in the semi-final and Palmeiras 1-0 in the first leg of the final.
Across all competitions, the most recent back-to-back wins came at the turn of the year, defeating Vasco da Gama to close 2025 and Ponte Preta to open 2026.
In the 2025 Paulista first phase, which lasted 12 rounds, Corinthians managed at least two straight wins on four occasions and lost only once, in the clásico against São Paulo. They finished that stage with the best record.
This latest result lifts Dorival Júnior’s side to fourth in the current first phase on 11 points, putting them in the hunt for the overall lead.
Next up is Palmeiras on Sunday 8 February at Neo Química Arena in round seven, a direct contest for top spot.
