Corinthians request new date for Paulistão Feminino semi-final second leg

On the evening of this Sunday (16), Corinthians concludes the first phase of the Women’s Paulista Championship against Realidade Jovem, at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), in Osasco. The Alvinegro, already qualified for the semifinals, is seeking a change in the date of the return match of the mentioned phase.

The base dates for the state semifinals set by the Paulista Federation (FPF) are November 23 and December 3. If it remains this way, the Brabas risk playing the second match without six of their players, as they will be representing the Brazilian and Venezuelan national teams in the last FIFA Date of the year for the sport.

The players are: goalkeeper Lelê (Brazil), defenders Mariza and Thais Ferreira (Brazil), midfielders Duda Sampaio (Brazil) and Dayana Rodríguez (Venezuela), as well as midfielder Gabi Zanotti (Brazil). The Brazilian National Team, for example, will face Portugal on December 2, Tuesday, at 4:45 pm (Brasília time), in the city of Aveiro, Portugal.

Venezuela, in turn, will take the field on the same day, at 8:00 pm, against Peru, for the 2027 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. The match will take place at the Estadio Metropolitano de Fútbol Lara, in Cabudare. In an interview with the portal Meu Timão, Corinthians' women's football director, Íris Sesso, revealed that she is in talks with the entity to secure more rest time for her players.

“Yes, I am in contact with the Paulista Federation. We are very connected there, together with the Federation’s management, together with Kin (Saito, Executive Director of the Women’s Football Department of the Paulista Football Federation), on these date issues, which really impact us now in a very important way,” the director began, in an exclusive interview that will be published in full in the coming days.”

“If this date remains on the 3rd, I will not have six important players from my team for a semifinal. So, it’s something I’m fighting for, so that the Federation, together with its partners, uses common sense so we can change this date, so that, at the very least, we have two days for the players to return. Even if it were on the 4th, with them coming back from Europe, playing on the 2nd, there’s the whole issue of travel, time zone,” she said.
