Romeu Tuma Júnior, president of Corinthians’ Deliberative Council, has asked the Public Prosecutor to open an investigation into club president Osmar Stabile and deputy legal director William Tapara de Oliveira, known as Índio, over an alleged plan to coerce a fan into giving false testimony about an assault. According to Globo.com, the complaint names Osni Fernando Luiz, known as Cicatriz, as the supporter at the centre of the claim. He argues the alleged plan was to wreck his reputation amid a fraught period, ahead of votes on the club’s accounts and the presidential election.
The sequence began on 6 March at a pizzeria in Parque São Jorge, where Tuma and Stabile were dining at separate tables. Cicatriz approached Tuma and the pair argued heatedly.
After that, Tuma is alleged to have gone to Stabile’s table and threatened consequences if he did not comply with Tuma’s wishes. Three days later, during a council vote on statute reform, Stabile cited the alleged remark to accuse Tuma of harassment and interference. The session was derailed, and proposals included granting Fiel Torcedor voting rights in presidential elections.
The accounts conflict. Tuma denies uttering the phrase and says he will take the case to the police. Stabile stands by his version, filed an internal complaint and later called a meeting to suspend Tuma provisionally.
In his submission to prosecutors, Tuma says Cicatriz later told him in an audio message that two associates of Índio confronted him, pressuring him to falsely claim he had been assaulted by Tuma that night. He asks prosecutors to investigate Stabile and Índio for alleged unlawful coercion, false accusation and false testimony. Tuma also requests CCTV from inside the pizzeria and from outside the club.
