Corinthians see CBF favouring Flamengo before Supercopa do Brasil amid fixture row

Corinthians believe the CBF has handed Flamengo a scheduling advantage before the Supercopa do Brasil, according to Coluna Do Fla.

Flamengo are due to play on 28 January, while Corinthians open their Brasileirão campaign on 29 January, with the Supercopa set for one February. The gap would give Flamengo more rest and preparation.

Corinthians plan to bring their league opener forward to gain extra time, but the CBF is likely to refuse the request.

The federation believes shifting Corinthians’ debut would require major calendar changes, as Corinthians face Velo Clube on Sunday, 25, the same day Bahia, their round one opponents, meet Vitória.

Any move would also mean altering state fixtures, so Corinthians’ first Brasileirão match is likely to stay on 29 January.
