Corinthians set line-up to face Bahia in Copa do Brasil opener

On the night of this Wednesday (28), Corinthians hosts Bahia at Vila Belmiro for the opening of the 2026 Brazilian Championship. The seven-time champion of the tournament, the Alvinegro aims to have a more solid campaign than last season, where they finished only mid-table with 47 points. It is the last match before the decisive game next Sunday (1).

Coach Dorival Júnior will not be able to count on two players for the match: defender Cacá (physical transition after an abdominal injury) and midfielder José Martínez (still awaiting his passport clearance to return to Brazil). Neither has been registered for the Brazilian Championship yet. The defender was recently speculated to join Athletico-PR and has lost his place in the squad over the past few months. His contract ends in December 2028.

Thus, Corinthians will start the match with: Hugo Souza; Matheuzinho, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, and Matheus Bidu; Raniele, André Carrillo, Breno Bidon, and Rodrigo Garro; Memphis Depay and Yuri Alberto.

The bench options include: Felipe Longo, André Ramalho, Pedro Milans, Hugo Farias, Matheus Pereira, Charles, Dieguinho, André, Kayke, Vitinho, Pedro Raul, and Gui Negão.

After the Brazilian Championship opener against Bahia at Vila Belmiro, Corinthians will turn their attention to the Brazilian Super Cup final. Next Sunday (1), at 4 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will face Flamengo at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasília. The club from Parque São Jorge comes to the decision as the Copa do Brasil champion, while the Rio team is the Brazilian Championship winner.
