Corinthians set to sign young Copinha midfielder for the academy

Corinthians has finalized the signing of midfielder Victor Michell, known as Vitinho, who played in the 2026 São Paulo Junior Football Cup representing Meia Noite. The player will join the club on loan until the end of the season, with an initial plan to integrate him into the U-17 squad.

According to Meu Timão, the agreement establishes a contract valid until December 2026 and includes a purchase option clause. To acquire 50% of the player's economic rights permanently, Corinthians will need to invest R$ 600,000. The contract also provides for the possibility of purchasing an additional 20% for R$ 1 million.

Victor Michell was born in 2009 and is 16 years old. The player operates as a defensive midfielder and is 1.84 meters tall. During the Copinha, he started in all matches played by his team.

Meia Noite participated in the São Paulo Junior Football Cup for the first time in 2026 and finished the group stage in second place in Group 14, behind Ponte Preta. The team beat Coritiba 2-0 and was eliminated in the second round by Cruzeiro, who later won the tournament. Vitinho wore the number 7 shirt and played in all four of his team’s games in the tournament.

This move is part of Corinthians’ plan to strengthen its youth divisions. The club has been monitoring players who stood out in the Copinha and is also keeping an eye on other talents from the competition, such as players from União Cacoalense, from Rondônia.

Recently, Corinthians hired Crisleison Santos as market coordinator. The professional was previously at Manchester United, England, and will now work directly in scouting and recruiting young talents.

If the deal is made official, Victor Michell will be available to the U-17 coaching staff for the Brazilian Championship and the Paulista Championship in the category, competitions that will be contested by the 2009 and 2010 generations under coach Guilherme Nascimento.
