Corinthians have paid R$ 5.4 million to Shakhtar Donetsk to clear the loan debt for midfielder Maycon, agreed in December 2022, avoiding a new transfer ban.

Globo.com reports that the payment was made on Tuesday after CAS ruled last Friday that the club had 45 days to comply.

Shakhtar still owed Corinthians about R$ 2.4 million from the 2021 deal for Pedrinho, so the Brazilians offset that against the total, assessed at R$ 7.8 million, and transferred the remainder to the Ukrainian side.

CAS found Corinthians had breached the agreement between the parties and ordered a €1 million payment, plus a €75,000 fine and a further €45,000 for FIFA rule violations. Interest of 10% per year has applied since 2023.

The club now turn to settling what is owed to Talleres of Argentina for the signing of midfielder Rodrigo Garro, R$ 23.3 million plus interest. An agreement between the parties is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
