According to Meu Timao, Corinthians halted a Deliberative Council session on statute reform on Monday after a heated row, with council president Romeu Tuma Júnior sending the vote straight to a General Assembly under Article 45.

Article 45 lets the council president call an extraordinary assembly at any time for members to decide statute changes.

Club president Osmar Stabile said he has felt threatened and coerced by Tuma and accused him of interference. Tuma replied that Stabile would need to prove it.

Legal director Pedro Luis Soares backed Stabile’s account and said the incident happened during an informal dinner at Parque São Jorge.

Tuma then alleged the board had rehired security worker Aldair Borges, named in Civil Police testimony over a January 2025 invasion at Parque São Jorge, as reported by UOL, and warned he would go to the press if nothing changed.

Councillors rose and a brief commotion paused proceedings for about 10 minutes. With members still standing, the council presidency invoked Article 45, arguing the body did not wish to vote.

A council ballot had been set for 24 October 2025, then postponed and replaced by 11 public meetings through early 2026. A General Assembly had been expected in April, but no date is confirmed.
