Corinthians update on players missing from Women's Libertadores opener

Last Thursday, the 2nd, Corinthians made their debut in the Copa Libertadores. The Brabas faced Independiente del Valle at Estadio Lencho in Buenos Aires and left the field with a 1-1 draw. This Friday, the 3rd, the club updated information about two players who were absent from the match.

These are Erika and Jaqueline, who are registered in the competition but missed the debut due to physical issues. According to the club, the defender has been training after recovering from a right thigh adductor injury on the field and may return as an option for Lucas Piccinato still in the group stage of the continental competition.

Meanwhile, the forward, who is the team's fourth top scorer of the season with eight goals in 28 games, has a more delicate situation and is expected to return as an option in the knockout stage. Jaqueline is recovering from a right foot trauma and last played on September 20th, in a 1-0 victory over Santos in the Paulistão, when she scored the winning goal.

Before the start of the Copa Libertadores, Corinthians also recovered two other players who were coming back from injury. Goalkeeper Nicole recovered from a muscle injury in the right thigh rectus femoris, while midfielder Andressa Alves overcame a muscle injury in the left thigh posterior region. Both played in the 1-1 draw with Independiente del Valle.

The Brabas will play again in the Libertadores next Sunday, the 5th, when they face Always Ready-BOL at Estadio Nuevo Francisco Urbano in Morón, at 4 PM. The last round of the group stage takes place on Wednesday, the 8th, against Independiente Santa Fé-COL, at Estadio Lencho.
