Corinthians Women’s unbeaten run ends with derby defeat

On Wednesday night, 24th, Corinthians returned to the field for the Women's Brazil Cup. In a match valid for the quarterfinals of the competition, which are single-game rounds, the Brabas faced São Paulo at the Gabriel Marques da Silva Stadium in Santana de Parnaíba, and in a game with errors in attack and defense, the team was defeated 3 x 1 - the only goal for Corinthians was scored by Vic Albuquerque.

In addition to being eliminated from the national tournament, Corinthians' defeat in regular time ended an unbeaten streak that had lasted more than three months. The last time Corinthians lost in official matches was on June 22, in the São Paulo Championship, precisely against São Paulo - the nemesis of this Wednesday - by 2 x 1.

Since then, Corinthians had collected 13 games without losing, achieving ten wins and three draws in total, scoring 25 goals and conceding only eight - a performance of 84.6% of the points. Of these matches, eight were elimination clashes: six for the Brasileirão, culminating in the championship title, and two for the Brazil Cup, allowing the team to reach the quarterfinals.

Now, the Brabas have only one match to boost their morale before going to Argentina to compete in the Copa Libertadores. This Saturday, 27th, the team visits Taubaté, away from home, in a match valid for another round of the São Paulo Championship. It is worth noting that the team is the current outright leader of the first phase of the state championship.
