AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca pulled out a brilliant result against Inter which might just have kept him his job, and he did so with ‘three moves’.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that to save his position as head coach – or at least to silence the rumours surrounding his future for the time being – Fonseca needed a performance just like the one that was put on the field by his Milan against Inter.

This is not only because a long-awaited derby win arrived but above all because it came after a commanding performance where Fonseca deployed his team in a way that caused serious problems for Simone Inzaghi’s Inter, one that is built on several stable pillars.

CorSport write about the three cornerstones that made the difference, starting with taking a new approach with the team and welcoming their thoughts as he did in the team meeting on the Wednesday before the game.

The second was the team barbecue organised on Friday to raise spirits, and the third was the bold choice to switch system and field both Matteo Gabbia and Tammy Abraham from minute one. Now, there is an expectation for consistency to follow in terms of performances and results.
